Seeds In A Cup® Plant Growing Kit - DILL

The dill plant is an annual herb with delicate, feathery leaves and a refreshing, slightly tangy aroma. It's a popular culinary herb, used to flavor a variety of dishes, from fish and potatoes to salads and sauces. Dill also produces yellow flowers that form umbrella-like clusters, which eventually develop into seeds that are also used as a spice.

Directions for Growing Dill from Seed

  1. Fill the planter with premium soil.
  2. Make holes in the soil ¼" deep, put seeds in holes, and cover with ¼" soil.
  3. Lightly water, ensuring the soil is moist but not over-saturated ("damp sponge" consistency). Do not over water, it may cause root rot.
  4. For optimal germination, ensure the soil temperature is around 70°F. A heat mat can be helpful.
  5. Place in a warm (70°F +) location that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.
  6. Water when the top ½" of soil feels dry to the touch.
  7. Germination should occur in 2-3 weeks.
  8. Pinch Flowers: To delay bolting and encourage bushier growth, pinch off the flower heads as they start to form.
